Construction Process Building for the Future
At Lake Crest Homes, we are committed to excellence. Every aspect of construction is of the highest quality. We follow a specific process that ensures your satisfaction… and ours. We use only the Best Materials. We work with the Best Partners and Subcontractors. We make You the Center of our Business Philosophy. And, we follow a Proven Construction Process.
Step 1 — Planning
Once you’ve decided to build with us, we’ll help you every step of the way, starting with the planning you do before we break ground on your new home. Our team will help you find the perfect site for your new home, perhaps at the exclusive Montreux Golf Course or another premium location.
Meanwhile, award-winning architects will work with you to bring your dream home to life. These architects can help you determine which of Lake Crest’s classic design themes is right for your needs and taste. You’ll then work with us to customize your home’s design details, like number of bedrooms and baths, kitchen layout and total square footage. On the other hand, you might opt for a completely custom-designed home, in which case we’ll start from scratch. During this stage, you’ll also choose many of the materials and finishes that will make your home complete. The Lake Crest team of design professionals will help you sort through the options and identify the finishing details that will truly make your house a home.
Step 2 — Site Work
After you’ve chosen a home site and the architects have drawn up the plans, we’ll start turning your ideas into reality. At this step, we cut the lot to define the boundaries and dimensions for your home construction. If you like big trucks and heavy machinery, you’ll feel right at home with site work. But, before we fire-up the loaders, we view the physical features of the lot, taking note of any rocks, trees, water-fronts, or other desirable views. We consider these factors to give you the most desirable view and the most privacy available.
Step 3 — Foundation
After your lot has been excavated, we lay the foundation. Building the foundation is one of the most critical aspects of your home construction. As the saying goes, “a house is only as strong as its foundation” — we couldn’t agree more. That’s why we use cutting-edge technology and the highest-quality materials from the very beginning steps in the construction process.
Step 4 — Framing
In the framing stage, your home will start taking shape. It’s during this time that you’ll first be able to identify and walk through the rooms of your new house. You’ll start to see the windows, floors, walls and staircases that will define your living space. At LCH, we use ARXX High Performance Wall Systems for our framing needs. ARXX is an advanced network of interlocking, lightweight, expanded polystyren forms. Because these forms remain in place after the concrete is poured, they remain an integral part of the wall. ARXX provides superior strength, insulation and fire resistance… qualities that will enhance your home’s security and durability and help make your home last a lifetime. We use ARXX Wall Systems because the walls are stronger, quieter, more energy efficient and exceed standards set by building codes.
Step 5 — Rough-Ins
During this step of the home-building process, dozens of the best local contractors will install everything from plumbing and heating systems, to cable and phone lines. This is the stage that will make your home functional as well as beautiful. The HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) system used in Lake Crest Home’s custom homes exceeds industry standards to optimize your indoor environment and save you money on heating and cooling bills.
Our HVAC system increases air flow, discourages animal infiltration, reduces loss of hot and cool air, and lessens the potential for pulling bad air into the ductwork and returning it to the air grilles. We also go the extra mile to ensure that the systems will last a long time and that they’re prepared for potential future developments. For example, we make sure that every home is prepared to accommodate soft water in the future.
Step 6 — Interior
During this phase, we install the interior home finishes that provide the final touches to your living space. These include things like cabinetry, trim, flooring, paint and other wall treatments, plumbing fixtures, counter tops and appliances. The initial decisions you made on fixtures and materials will come to fruition and create the interior space you’ll be enjoying for years to come.
Step 7 — Exterior
As the finishing touches are put on your home’s interior, work will be progressing on its exterior, as well. Lake Crest works with you to ensure that your exterior finishes are both functional and beautiful, whether they be brick, stone, wood, stucco or another material. We’ve been building in the Reno-Tahoe area for many years, and we know which finishes are best suited for local weather conditions. Many of our design themes offer premium exterior finishes like Mt. Moriah and Honey Ledge stone.
Step 8 — Landscaping
Throughout the construction process, we’ve worked hard to make your new home comfortable and inviting. The last step toward completion is landscaping… considered by some to be the most enjoyable step of home construction. At Lake Crest Homes, we strive to make your yard a showcase. We plan it accordingly by adding the right vegetation suitable for our region and utilizing the sun where it crosses your property to allow for the best plant growth. We take great care in landscaping because we know that picking the right trees and shrubs is essential. In addition to providing a beautiful portrait, smart landscaping will help you save on energy costs and provide shade and wind protection.
